I just have to report another fantastic breakthrough with another client.  We started a six – one half hour package on July 13, 2011.  This client presented herself wanting to improve/learn freestyle and wanting help with her breaststroke since this currently her primary method of swimming for exercise.  I spent the first 20 minutes of lesson time on freestyle and the last 10, usually 15-20 on breaststroke and any other questions she had.  Her freestyle was such that she could not breathe without lifting her head and could only put 6-8 strokes of windmilling together before she got tired.  The last lesson concluded on 23 Aug 2011.  At that time she had incorporated breathing into her stroke and as long as she kept her hands in the water doing swingswitches she was able to achieve a beginning elbow led recovery.  The last thing we went over was drills on learning the 2 beat kick adn the progression of incorporating the 2BK into whole stroke practice.  I also gave her the progression of how to start building her endurance up.  We agreed that she should spend some time practicing and then get back togehter for a touch up lesson at a future date to be determined by her.

Today I received an email update from her and I was totally amazed by her progress in only 4 days since our last lesson.  Here is what she sent:

Thank you for the video.  I think I look awful in both the before and after. But no matter.  Sometime in the last week, after my final lesson, things started to click.  First of all, I dropped the flutter kick and got into the kick that you showed me, and it made a HUGH difference in terms of my endurance.  Getting into that pattern without having to think about it has enabled me to relax into the stroke and incorporate all the specifics that you’ve showed me, and now I feel like I am gliding through the water with almost no effort.  I swam 24 25 yard laps today, entirely freestyle, and had to force myself to get out of the pool.  The heck with that boring breast stroke!

So now I am really trying to focus on the arm movements, since I am no longer exhausted from kicking, and feel tremendous.  I am officially addicted.

You are a terrific teacher, and this is a terrific technique.  Thank you so much, and I will see you again soon. ‘

This client went from not being able to complete one 25 to 24 or a 600 yd swim in only 4 days after our last lesson.  And to boot she no longer desires to swim breaststroke.

TI Rocks!!!!!!!!
