As a coach we love to hear how well our students feel they are doing from them.  It is obvious to the coach how well and how much they have improved but, it always extra special to me when the student realizes how much they have improved and are as excited about it as you are.  In particular, this student arrived in my evening master’s group (we meet 3 evenings per week for an hour) after 2 weeks in the adult learn to swim program at the same pool.  She and her husband were sent over to my group because the instructors felt they would get better results with my group.  She arrived unable to put her face in the water and swim for fear of not breathing.
We started with the basic balance drills for the first 3 days, then moved on to streamlining skating and spear switch for one week, then to  SwingSkate
and Swing Switch for the third week.  About a week later I received the following YouTube video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd-S1hcvSA0 )
put together by this student and totally unsolicited.  The student gave me permission to distribute her video as an example of her TI success.  This student’s husband has improved just as much and has his stroke count for 25 M at 13-14 consistently from a starting point in the high 20’s.  This student’s count is in the 17-18 range now.  She also has done several back to back practices doing the 8-9 pm practice on a Tuesday or Thursday and then showed up for my 5-6 AM practice on Wednesday or Friday.  She is that excited about swimming now.

It is a great testimony to TI methodology and mindful practice versus the standard cookie cutter approach to mass swim instruction whether it is for adult or children.
