I’ve worked with many triathletes and competitive swimmers in the Upper Midwest. When someone comes in for an appointment, I could go all day on video analysis, and I often think that’s what the less-than-enthusiastic swimmer wants me to do, but our time is best spent in the pool. So how do we still get the underwater filming experience?

Posting online, especially to youtube,  is a great idea, but not everyone wants everyone else to see their strokes, especially early in their development as a swimmer. What I do is instead post client video to facebook, where it is much easier to limit access to a certain video to one or a few clients. Likewise, i have certain levels of my own videos that I use for "homework" that I can graduate clients to after they’ve moved through the second or thrid lesson. Otherwise, the often want to jump ahead without truly embracing the fundamentals of a balanced and efficient stroke.

Let me know if you’re interested in becoming a facebook "friend" to try this out. Nobody else needs to see your video this way, unless you’d like me to open it up to your friends or a general video status.
