![]() I recently bought a book by Blythe Lucero called Technique Swim Workouts.
In Workout #7 , pg. 53 the focus point is 'kick with no blank spots'. Nowhere in the book is 'blank spot' described. Never heard of this term before. Part of the workout is to swim 8 X50 freestyle "no blank spots when breathing". No clue what this is about. |

![]() Hello aloysious
I, too, have a book by Blythe Lucero, her 100 Best Swimming Drills, which I find quite interesting. As far as I know, the blank spot is not mentioned, but I'm guessing what she means is a state of affairs when no propulsion is being generated. This is the big advantage that front crawl and back crawl have over the other strokes. In principle it is possible to have more or less constant propulsion, although I believe it is impossible for it not to have its peaks and troughs. Richard |

![]() I can only speculate about what Lucero meant, but I do know that the first thing I learned from swimming with a Tempo Trainer (literally the first time I used one) was that there was a bit of a pause in my stroke rhythm every time I took a breath.
