Angry Stress Fracture/ Foot...Keep Swimming???

Anyone training for Triathlon, continue swimming through this injury? I feel like it's an option. Curious to hear about good and bad results if you tried to swim through it. Obviously, running is out, cycling is pushing it, but swimming should be ok, no? I feel my doc is being overly conservative.

YES. I have a bone density problem and break ankle and foot bones frequently. I swim and do running in water with an aqua jogger. It saves me.

Last year about this time I had a stress fracture in the third metatarsal of my right foot. I wore a boot for six weeks and swimming was the only exercise I was allowed to do for the first month.

The only discomfort I had was doing the frog kick for breast stroke. Moving the foot sideways in the water produced more resistance than a slow and shallow flutter.

Glad I had at least one exercise to do. If you remain dormant, other parts of the body tend to compensate for the weak foot, and your body mechanics are skewed.

Quick healing, my friend.

I'm not a doctor but I don't see why not. The only possible issue I can foresee is the stress from your push offs, either from the pool wall or floor. Maybe just push off with your good foot.
