![]() Hi Stuart,
I am in Werner's age group, so perhaps it's not surprising that I feel the way he does about face book. I do have a face book account -- I was forced to get one if I wanted to see the pictures that my daughter posts of her travels -- but I avoid it like the plague. Face book has gotten some bad press (in my opinion) in light of all the scandals about fake news, and, to tell the truth, I prefer keeping my internet presence down to a minimum, just because I don't trust all the security agencies who are monitoring those things. Time is probably passing Werner and me by, and I will be saddened if I am forced to turn to facebook for my usual dose of swim analysis. There is something about the whole structure of face book that seems to me to be a move in the wrong direction from a societal standpoint. But I probably lost that battle a long time ago. Just mark my words: You will all regret it! |

![]() I am a member of many forums and a number of FB groups. They both have their place but the one is not a substitute for the other.
It would be a big mistake closing this down and going the FB route instead. See here https://www.themembershipguys.com/sh...our-community/

![]() I'm somewhat younger and I still refuse to use FB like that. I have an account and my Coach added me to the group. However I don't usually post in public groups. I may have posted once - a response to someone - but that was really it. I'll never use the FB group actively even if that means I have no access to TI advice anymore. I value my privacy more. FB is the absolute garbage when it comes to privacy.

![]() Perhaps if the group were closed, but most likely not even then.

![]() Hi all,
Feedback understood and taken, I'll bring this to Tracey and Keith's attention. There is probably an option for each of the active forum members to have a more anonymous FB account, as long as the admins of page are aware of who you are when you request to join. This forum is completely public too, but a user can remain anonymous for the most part. Terry was a big fan of both facebook and twitter, and I know he would want the forum to continue to grow and flourish especially under a new platform where more swimmers had access and awareness of the TI medium. Most will seek out good public info/discussions regardless of the platform it's rendered on too. Terry was always an advocate of change and continuous improvement in swimming, technology, writing, communication, really everything - kaizen! Again, more in the testing/rolling out phase, adjusting, etc - nothing confirmed if/when an upgrade to the forum will happen Thanks for the feedback! Stu mindbodyandswim.com |

![]() Hi Stuart,
Two suggestions, which may have already occurred to you: 1) Might it be possible to experiment with both forms to get a feel for which is better or, possibly, if both are worth having? 2) How about starting a thread soliciting feedback on these ideas from members? You might get useful information and feedback. Good luck! |

![]() It seems you have pretty definitive replies from 2 responders.
Again, what is the problem actually with this forum as things stand right now? |

![]() Facebook is great for social media and is good with memories groups.
It sucks as a forum replacement, no index being the biggest problem, posts get lost in posts within comments. |

Also forums are stagnating for several reasons, one reason is, so many topics have been covered so thoroughly that people can browse old posts and find answers to their own questions. e.g. I have a thread on the Swim Smooth forum that locked out posts nearly two years ago, my thread had 27,000 views at that time, now it has 44,000. .
