Hi Aquaris. I believe "shoulder" or "shoulder blade" is the lay person's term for "scalpula". Yes, above surface recovery initiates with with a "shoulder shrug" forward (toward ear) and swing elbow wide. Forearm remains relaxed or "rag doll", finger tips down. It's best to visualize recovery arm moving in continuous motion, maintaining momentum, rather than focus on when recovery starts or stops. Hope that helps
