![]() There are very few TI coaches who are also members of the American Swim Coaches Association. As someone who has been involved with ASCA since 1999, I think it would open up a lot of eyes of what current coaching practices are at different levels and what changes are moving through the ranks.
In general, the upper tier of coaches all put a huge value on technical work. It's the hand-me-down coaches who take the easy solutions of yards, yards, yards. If you're not a member, I'd recommend joining and coming along to one fo the coaching clinics. I'll be at the ASCA World Clinic this year. Terry is presenting a talk and also teaching the Level 2 school before the clinic, so there will certainly be some discussion of Ti there. Hopefully, we'll see a TI booth. To find out more about ASCA, go to www.swimmingcoach.org To find out about the world clinic (current registration rate goes up on July 31), go to https://www.swimmingcoach.org/worldclinic/asca2008/ |
