If the aesthetics of the stroke don't match with your thoughts, that's not the problem of this swimmer. He IS fast. What do you want? Being fast or swimming pretty? If you want to swim pretty it's ok, but why then criticising someone who swims fast and demonstrates his technique? Or as my kung fu teacher said: "Better looking? I already hit you two times". Kung fu is not shadow boxing, it has to be effective. Shadow boxing can look pretty, there is no one you have to defend. I'm just puzzled, because as I understood most of your posts were discussing efficiency. Here is a fast efficient swimmer but it's not pretty enough? (I may have misunderstood) Best regards Inge Last edited by IngeA : 09-14-2018 at 06:53 AM. |

![]() Its clear to see this guy is a good swimmer.
Only a good swimmer can make this look so good and be fast with it. Question is, is this a good style for a beginner to copy? Is this kick before pull style the TI style? Inge How do you know this is efficient? All you can see he is streamlined a lot of the time. Mushroom You say I just did this style in the pool, or that style. You are only swimming 3 years.I understand what you are trying to say and often agree with it, but dont overestimate your skill level. (Or maybe you are super talented). I am pretty sure you cant copy this guys technique and speed just like that. I know I cant. These elite swimmers are on a different level. You only see pretty slow swimmers in the avarage pool, but once you see such a swimmer in real life you realize the skill and powerlevel they operate from. They look like aliens with a secret extra motor in the normal fast lane compared to the other swimmers. Last edited by Zenturtle : 09-14-2018 at 09:45 AM. |

![]() I think the kick timing is not a subject that needs to interest a beginner.
Timing is a very individual thing and comes for me AFTER having a good fluent basic stoke with good balance, good streamlining, relaxed recovery, fluent breathing. When this fluent basic style is there, you can talk about EVF and kick timing. That's what I think and how I train, but I'm not a coach. Best regards Inge |

![]() yeah, sounds like a reasonable approach. Dont know whats the most efficient teaching method. Also not a coach who can test differnt teaching methods.
