Here is another freestyle analysis, again posting both for people to learn from and for me to learn from your perspectives.

This was a short 15 second video clip I was sent for one of my coach's athletes.

Excellent swim analysis Coach Suzanne! Now how would you put that feedback in four words or less? I remember that magic feedback number from some awesome coach way back when :-)

Haaarrrr! Ya, "Touch the bumper" works. Or the internal, unfiltered coach voice will say "Touch the damn bumper!" and/or "that's not the bumper!!!" - and one of my favs "Your other left!" :-) Maybe we can come up with a list of common coach feedback statements that are four words or less - that might be hysterical.

Yes thanks - I hung in through the 20 min version, caffeine was required, lol :-)

I used "Your other left" the other day and the swimmer was actually right, I was wrong because I was walking backwards on the deck, lol.

Coach Suzanne, thank you so much for sharing this and your previous video critique. I have made instant improvement thanks to you! Your analysis didn't match perfectly with my problems, but I learned to better critique myself and the solution to a few of my many trouble spots came into focus. For those of us living and swimming in areas not served by a TI coach, self-coaching is our only route to improvement.

I'd like to know what program you use to view the video frame-by-frame and draw lines in red, green, blue...

That particular program is called Objectus Video. It's OK, I still like the ipad versions better (coaches eye) for example, but for videos I download to my mac, it works nicely.

There are other options, like just using quicktime to watch the video and an overlay standalone drawing program like Highlighter, then capturing all the video with screen cast for example...that's a little cheaper, but a little more to manage, objectus is all in one.

There is a lot of compression in the voiceover analysis though which is why the video quality is so poor.

These videos you are making are really fantastic. If this is part of what's included in TI academy I think a lot of people will be signing up, and you'll be real busy with that computer :)
