Default What if gravity were wierd and we swam on ridges of water?

Just a crazy thought. Freestyle requires body roll, in part (or maybe fully?) to allow for the recovery arm to get back to stroking position with less stress on the shoulder to get it out of the water. Also the rotated position diverts water to the sides rather than down, in theory making less drag.

What if gravity didn't make bodies of water flat...and instead we swam on raised ridges of water about the width of our shoulders, and gently sloping off the sides so that my arm underneath my body as I stroked would be fully submersed.

What would that be like? Why am I thinking this way? Did somebody drug my coffee today??

Don't worry, Doc, you cannot be sane if you aren't crazy sometimes.

I think it's a good sign. You've got a quite sharp mind and it means your mind is still able to relax :-)))

And great you are posting this. Who knows, maybe you are closer to the truth than we all realize ;-)

This world ain't what it seems to be anyway.
Hang on in there...

Default Swimming on the edge

I was thinking that we become something of a hydrofoil as we move through the water...the tips of our hands delivering motive force , generated by torquing our bodies. Thus we create a channel to move forward. The narrower the channel the less resistance. Sounds like an edge to me.

I think I should lay off the coffee too...I'll be thinking of this all my time in the pool tomorrow
