Default swimming makes you taller.

Swimming tall makes you tall!
Measured myself yesterday and have grown from 178,5 cm to 180,5 cm.
Must have come from a better posture.
Aquatic posture works great on dryland too!
Wingspan still at 187cn though. Cant expect miracles.

A good friend who hasn't seen me in a couple years said the same to me - swimming seems to have made me taller. Probably more in posture appearance. It's hard to get a good measure of height, consistently, as we change a bit through the day. Would have to measure same time, like weight.

It's interesting that you mention that because I too have noticed that I have regained some height in the past few years.

I put my down to better posture and core control which is helped by swimming and pilates.

Only if you are 18 year. After 18, you will not grow at all.:) even if you will swim years from then.

I haven't thought of it but have felt it. My opinion is that it is change to the lumbar curvature - a slight straightening of the spine generated primarily, in my case anyway I think, from changing the tilt of my pelvis. It could also be strengthening/straightening of whatever it is that makes it possible to elongate our necks for instance. There must be some sort of Chinese finger-trap around our spines that can compress it!

I think it's plausible that frequent swimming, especially if using the correct exercises, could make a small difference to your height. Does anyone here use posture training devices?

my favorite posture training device is the floor.

Lay on the floor prone.
Lift your knees one inch off the floor.
Tuck your tailbone between your legs.
Pull your abs off the floor (if you can, at least pull them in)
Lengthen the back of your neck.

As an added challenge, extend your arms in front of your shoulders and lift them slightly off the ground.

Challenge two, kick in that position without dropping your abs.

I do my best to steal from the best. I make no claims of originality in anything I teach.
