I'm not surprised, though it's happening a bit sooner than I had expected.

When Phelps announced that he was retiring from competitive swimming, Anthony Ervin predicted that he would be back, though Phelps discounted Ervin's prediction. But it was Ervin - not Phelps - who knew from experience what it's like for an Olympic swimmer to try to leave competitive swimming behind.
