Smat,

Another thing, if you say where you are located in the UK then there may be some other forum members who could meet up with you for a 'TI' swim.

I'd be happy to do that next time I'm in the UK if you are local to me.

Andy.

Oh yeah, good point. If he's a triathlete it may be worth posting on Tritalk. Lots of swim affectionnatos on there.

Graham Williams from Swimtech 2000 for instance, isn't at all expensive, he's a nice person operating as a part time independant coach. Well he's not TI, but not against neither. Nickname Speedoswimmer.

That said the legendary TI Swim Shack (or its new replacement) is certainly worth the extra.

Got my answer.

Price of a Firefighter truck ride, in case of an emergency, so we're probably looking at an avg 60min deal, 1300 Euros in France. Costs a bit over more than a 1000 Euros more than the equivalent ride in an Ambulance vehicle. So all in all, TI compares fairly well in term of rate ;-)

I was curious if most coaches include video feedback as part of their lessons and lesson cost. I was looking at coaches in my area and they each list video as a separate session for up to $120 per 1/2 hour. I was under the impression that TI is big on using video/visual feedback during teaching but they list it as separate from normal lessons. Is this normal and what do you coaches on the board do? If you don't use video during lessons, do you use any kind of visual feedback like bringing a mirror to the pool? Should I look for a coach that combines video with lessons or is the TI swim studio in NY the only place that regularly does this?

We teach all new coaches how to use video and encourage, when appropriate, video feedback durign the lesson. How each coach implements video into their teaching practice is not something TI can mandate. I think you'll find all coaches trained in the last 2-3 years heavily integrating video in most aspects.

The price of $120/ 30 min session could only be compared to what you get as a final product...do you get edited narrated videos ? Do you get raw clips uploaded to a server? Is the video done with handheld camera in the wtaer or hast he coach invested in a multiple camera angle at once endless pool setup?

Default An other point of view

Hallo,

2cts from an other point of view. For being a teacher for some 30 years (no sport despite from some squash lectures...) I'd wish every learner would take every lesson and focus how to get most out of it for him/her self.

For learner and teacher it's irritating and annoying when the learner's focus is, where and how can I complain about anything and more...

My best lectures were, when a student asked about something I didn't know and we could work together on that problem. And my very best were, when I could say: "Wow, there I cannot help you further, let's look for someone who can and will..."

And if you find out for yourself you did pay more than it's worth for you, you have no choice and have to find another one, better for you.

Regards,
Werner

I live nearish to windsor and would love to be a guinea pig. Would happily pay the going hourly rate for some different advice. Thanks everyone for your comments. I have had 2 weeks away from the water and went today for some TI practice realisee i missed the water. Session felt ok with my TI mentor until we tried a golf score thing...... I went as hard as i could for 100m in 1.51 avg stroke 46 per 50. I could do this in 1.30 2 years ago pre TI so i do know you all feel my frustrations.
Thanks again.

Try Jai Evans who is located in Windsor. Jai works with elite swimmers as well. We will be there in just 10 dyas fro a coach training and weekend workshop.

In your case, swimming fast is also a matter of fitness. Fitness is easily rebuilt.

Seems silly to do an all out 100m for swim golf when you've not been in the water for 2 weeks and place any emotional value (frustration) on it.
