Hi Tim,

This is ALEX from Dubai.
If you want TI training from a certified TI instructor, the 2 closets options are probably:
a. Singapore (7 hour flight)
b. Israel (3 hour flight)

Of course if you decide to go to Israel, make sure they do not stamp your passport... or else you may not be able to go back home :)

Here in Dubai there are plenty of Triathletes but they also seem to be hard-kicking/ hard-pulling people. I have only come across 2 people who, like me, are practicing TI on their own (but we did get together a few days back).

By the way TIM,

I just noticed an email from Dubai SuperSports.
If you can be in Dubai at these dates, there is a fantastic OPEN WATER SWIMMING race near the world famous "PALM JUMEIRAH". I usually go for the MINA MILE (1,650m) but there is also a 6.5Km race for the "real long distance swimmers".

I have always thought that if a TI instructor could participate, that could be a good launch for TI in th Middle-East. ALEX

I've got a few clients who visit once every year or two who moved to Dubai from Minneapolis. I'd say get on a message board and see if anybody is familiar with TI or is interested in teaming up with you.

Or...just fly me out there for a weekend for you and your friends :)

Hey Dave,

Ive been in touch with a couple of coaches in Europe trying to sort something out for a camp in Muscat, Oman but haven't gotten much feedback. If you are serious about a trip over- Im pretty certain we could work something out for here . I also imagine with a little effort and cooperation from other TI forum members in the region, the trip could be extended to include other major cities here in the gulf which have fairly large triathalon groups. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain,Bahrain, Qatar...

Send me an email if you are confirmed swimming. I will participate in the MILE distance but for sure will be there to see the 6.5Km guys as they come in.

It would be great to see someone with a TI cap finish the 6.5K in front of the pack :)

Hi Alex, will email you but I'll be doing good just to finish it within the 3 hours. Less than a year and a half ago (before TI) I couldnt manage a coordinated length in the pool.

We have a 4k here in May that I am helping organize if you are interested. Its a great swim from one of the islands offshore of Muscat.

Are you still tracking this thread? I am a TI instructor living up here in Antalya, Turkiye. We're not too far apart. Would you care to come up for a TI swim vacation?

Also, we plan to have some OW TI camps in the Fall when the sea and weather are just perfect.
