![]() Anyone else do the USMS ePostal 1 Hour National Championship swim? If so, how far did you get?
I got 4315 yards. I didn't think that was too bad for a 46 year old guy who mostly trains for sprints. |

![]() I think they have something similar here in Britain, only in meters. I've never tried doing it. Perhaps if I could get a similarly slow swimmer to accompany me it might be interesting. At the moment I think I could do it with frequent rests. I suppose the plan would be first to do five minutes then ten and so on. I may swim an 800 meters soon, which would give me an idea of a suitable possibly sustainable pace.
I must have a look at the USMS site and see what the over 80's are capable of there. Some of them are seriously fast and have serious endurance. The trend here seems to be that the older swimmers gradually shorten the maximum distance they are prepared to swim. I understand the policy is to start out much slower than what you think is the right pace. |

Did you manage to pace it evenly, do you have your splits? Guess your avg pace equals the pace you use to recover between usrpt sets? Salvo |

Yes, that pace is more or less my usual warmup/recovery/cool down pace. Last edited by gary p : 03-23-2016 at 10:59 PM. |

![]() Congrtatulations GaryP. That's a good result. I am 61 (62 in Sept). I completed 3975 and was going for a constant pace. My overall diff per 50 split was less than 2 sec from start to finish.

![]() Nicely done. I'll feel pretty good about myself if I can still get that close to 4000 yards in an hour @ 60+ years old!
