![]() I'm swimming in a resort pool all this month which is 27.4metres (30 yards)
Everyday of the week my benchmark test SPL settings are tt1.26 SPL17, this is the same in any 25m pool I go to in a typical public session In this month's pool I am struggling to hit SPL20, 21 feels more natural, but that means +4SPL just for an extra 2.4m of pool length but then I thought if there are no lane ropes and no marking on the bottom of the pool to follow then 1.5SPL extra per length might be normal? |

![]() I don't have an answer although logic tells me you are on to something. I find it more comforting to swim with lane lines. Swimming in a pool with no bottom markings and ropes is disconcerting to me.

![]() It could be related to the ratio of the length of the pool to the distance of your push off from the wall.
