Hi Margaret!

Welcome to the forum and TI! Don't let any of the overly technical discussions intimidate you, join in or start any discussion when you have questions and/or statements - the more the merrier.

Good news for you, TI is having a Memorial Day sale, all DVD, downloadable vides/books are 40% off! I highly recommend the 1.0 Effortless Endurance Self-Coaching course. It's worth its weight in gold, succinct, easy to follow videos and drills. This will give you a ton of information and background on how best to move your vessel easily *through* the water and not muscle and crawl though it. http://www.totalimmersion.net/store/

Enjoy your journey!

Margaret,

welcome to TI and the forum! I've been practicing TI (using many of the materials Coach Stuart mentioned) since 2005 or so, and have found it to be one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done.

By all means, ask all the questions you want. There are some extremely knowledgeable people that post here who will be happy to help in any way they can.

Good luck!

Hello Margaret. Not at all to detract from the detailed and helpful information contained in the TI swim course and videos etc. But by far the greatest help for a Newbie I think is the hands on help from a real live Total Immersion Coach if you absolutely can possibly hold of one in your area.

The motivation to learn and the desire to seek details on how to improve are all great drivers for extracting information from the books and courses, especially after you have got the foundational elements dialled in. But nothing beats a real live coach at the beginning to get you pointed in the right direction, and to help rid you of all the accumulated "terrestial-based" unhelpful instincts and habits. Or at very least, to point them out to you so you have a chance to work on them
