Too bad - growth, learning, improving for swimmers and coaches comes from challenging opinions, reviews and philosophies. What is there to fear? No challenge = no growth, stagnant, but certainly simplistic and easier to manage perceptions.

Call me cynical, but looking at the date stamps of the last two posts, it appears they locked their forum just after PN threw his toys out the pram after someone called the Swim Types "marketing bs".

In what appears to be a reasonable challenge (and response) regarding the language of "overglider" in a dvd - SS turns on a big fan and active customer, is quite dismissive, projecting and injects quotes from Ian Thorpe and Steve Jobs to support an argument??? Then snaps and holds the entire forum hostage. Yikes! At risk of being cliche', (learn to) "choose your battles wisely" :-)

Great and swimming in the same sentence....I have a great love of swimming.

Not a great swimmer but very happy with where I'm at.

Started lessons early 2013 at 47, confident in the water now, just on a slow track to increased swim fitness.

Hi Tom,

Great story and start! Looks like you got past your breathing issues. Breathing well, without interrupting stoke and balance is one of the toughest hurdles for most new swimmers.

Swimming slower and ever increasing swim fitness sorted the breathing, just wasn't swim fit enough and breathing every 3 wasn't enough for me.

Breathing on 3's is not enough for most swimmers, even the most fit. Get the air when you need, breathe on 2's and even on 1's (yup each stroke). In ow, if I don't don't a good breathe off my right shoulder, or if I just need more air, I immediately follow my left shoulder to air on the next stroke. Although you should be able to easily breath off left and right shoulder, it's not necessary to make breathing on 3's a goal. My breathing pattern in ow: 2,2,4,2,2,4,... This allows me to get enough air most of the time and gives me 4 strokes to act as a reset. Find a pattern that works for you and break the pattern as needed if you need air :-)
