![]() Are other forum users as excited by the return to competitive swimming by Ian Thorpe as I am?
His style draws so much from the TI style, his stroke, for me, is the most graceful and aesthetically pleasing of all professional swimmers, whilst being devastatingly effective too. A perfect example of a six beat kick working in harmony with hip drive. Apparently, he will focus on 100m and 200m if he makes the Olympics in 2012, which will put him in direct competition with Phelps. Am I alone in wanting Thorpe to impose his swimming style over Phelps' more prosaic freestyle? Regards Janos |

![]() Hi Janos
Thorpe certainly has a beautiful style and if he can get back to form in time for the Australian trials it will be very interesting. I suppose he will have to work on his underwaters quite a bit to get close to Phelps. Of course nobody knows what promising young swimmer may appear in the USA or Australia or somewhere else in the world to challenge both Thorpe and Phelps. |
