Yes, you're focusing too much on the low side arm catch or the "EVF". This will increase the impulse to pull and cause elbow to drop and lose traction and when hand breaks the surface, it will ultimately whip over the hip due to the pressure change from thick water to thin air. Instead, focus on the high side arm's weight and momentum finishing forward and feel a vaulting of your body over the low side arm. The pressure on the low side arm should feel almost feather light - that pressure is subtle and takes time to sense firm from light pressures.
