Diana's next feat...
Diana Nyad is trying her Cuba-to-Florida swim again (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/19/he...=1&ref=science) -- I swim with a woman who's on the support team, manning, I believe, a rifle! What does anyone here think of this? Is it, would it be, an admirable feat, or just sort of crazy? I'm not sure what I think...
Looks like she started today! Good luck to her and her team!
Coach Bill, I think what she's doing is not only amazing but inspiring as well.
There are so many swims in open water that have yet to be done. I like it when someone decides to take a chance and see what can be accomplished in marathon swimming. There have been some amazing successes and some great attempts in this sport.
For instance: Lynne Cox swimming The Bering Sea, Luis Pugh's record swim in Antarctica, Frank Chalmers valiant attempt to cross The Pentland Firth (Hell's Mouth) from the isle of Orkney to The Scottish Mainland and many others. Many people advised all of them to not attempt these swims, but they all moved beyond their comfort zones to try any way.
I sure hope she succeeds, but if not, I applaud her courage and vision to attempt such an amazing swim.
