Terry, it was a pleasure swimming with you on Sunday morning... This article made me reflect on my initial recovery from a chronic illness, and ongoing battles. Before getting sick I was entirely a metrics swimmer: splits, stroke count, etc. Now I only think about my stroke, trying to make each perfect. This stroke conscious swimming is a form of physical therapy, and a way to help me cope with the illness. As a result, I enjoy swimming more.

Stay strong, Terry, and get well soon!

I loved reading this from Coach Atkinson's definition of exercise to the latin root of competition....on top of your personal story and relationship with swimming. This is true yoga and your incorporation of the yogic philosophy in all that you do is infectious. I'm so inspired by your positivity. You are a true Yogi. :)

Upon reading this post, the one thing that resonates is Coach Atkinson's definition of exercise. I had read one of your earlier posts where you alluded to the notion of water having healing properties. I respectfully differed to a certain degree. I felt and still feel that it is the "quality of our interaction" with water that has healing powers not the actual water. In the same way, some of these eastern disciplines (Tai Chi Qigong) harness not movement/ positions but rather quality of movement to produce positive shift in wellbeing. I think Suzane's definition resonates. Thanks for the continous update on your progress!
