Thank You Jeanne...I believe a telltale sign of a great influential person is how their legacy lives on after they've left us....I will learn from your example as I have great aspirations because of him and now you...Again, thank You!

Thank you for this beautiful tribute to Terry and Total Immersion which completely changed my life as a swimmer. And also for your inspiration in dealing with life’s challenges I have chronic Lyme disease which is a ‘basket’ of tick borne infections and sometimes it is hard to keep persevering only to ‘cure’ one issue and be confronted with another while wishing I could be the person I was before this illness. Yours and Terry’s metaphor is a great inspiration and your dream a beautiful visualization of it. I will always be grateful for what Terry shared with those of us who love swimming.

Jeanne: what a beautiful narrative! I was shedding tears, which, I realize is a testament to the remarkable and generous spirit of the man I had never met in person, but whose work, in the technical lessons of TI that he has bestowed upon us, and even more valuable, in the attitudinal and questing approach of how we learn a new skill and monitor our learning is such a wonderful legacy for us all to benefit from for ever. What you have described, I now see is a further facet of his inspiration to us -- the ability to see challenges, which in our darkest moments would overwhelm us, as tools or even opportunities to be welcomed as unique chances in a lifetime to exploit for our own edification, growth and satisfaction. With this example (and your kind sharing) before us we can be inspired to keep on growing, not shrinking, for the remainder of our mortal lives.

Such a heartfelt piece. I never met Terry in person but have been getting to know him through his videos and writing, and channel him and his techniques with every stroke. I'm a slow as molasses open water/cold-San Francisco Bay swimmer. I never looked back after training with our local team of what I'll call "Terry gurus" and TI evangelists. What an enormous legacy this man left!
