		<description><![CDATA[Thank you for your blog Terry. I continue to refine my stroke with every workout, and I continue enjoying the mastery of the TI micro skills.. This is such a deep meditation, and brings an ever greater appreciation to every swim. I&#039;m usually doing about 11 strokes for a 25 yard pool, and ( I must admit) love watching as other swimmers are flailing, trying to keep up. I&#039;m 61, and though I am not as strong as I used to be, I have never been a better swimmer. The beauty of being so &quot;at one&quot; with the water is something only another swimmer could appreciate. Thank you for your inspiration Terry. Your inspiration has brought my health and love of swimming to another level.]]></description>

This year in the Canadian Nationals I swam my slowest ever 800m (SCM) freestyle, not entirely due to losing goggles on my starting dive (yes I still dive at 85). Later I remembered what you taught about focussing on technique and interestingly I found increasing loss of breath on the turns. So now I intend to take yet another leaf from your book ….as soon as I can get back in the water as I recover from a serious sinus infection. Even though I do open turns there is much time to be saved there over distance. It DOES require focus.

		<description><![CDATA[I&#039;ve known Terry for about 20 years and the single most consistent part of his personality is his willingness to observe with an open mind. I&#039;ve been using this technique for a few years, and at least two swim camp coaches and more than a few Masters coaches have called me out for it, saying breathing twice slows a swimmer. It doesn&#039;t if you practice it. Besides allowing a swimmer to stay underwater longer off the walls -- the fastest part of each lap -- if you&#039;re an open water swimmer it becomes second nature when you drink a wave or absorb another swimmer&#039;s kick and you can smoothly roll to the other side and take the breath you need. There&#039;s also a sensation of rebooting your stroke when you breathe twice. I can&#039;t explain it. And, one more benefit. You understand the absolute necessity of bilateral breathing -- more oxygen -- and you get very good at it. But you also get the other benefits: Bilateral breathing supports better balance, keeps you on course in open water, and sustains upper body flexibility. Breathe twice. Win once.]]></description>
