I have got into an irrepressible habit of counting strokes per lap and I am delighted to find this RPE chart. I do find that as I increase the overall effort per repeat even slightly I tend to reduce the number of strokes per lap. But I AM consciously trying to reduce the number SPL anyway....not that it gets any better with age. I do remember some years ago when I swam a 200 yards race in Kingston you pointed out that I had 21 SPL. and you thought that good for my age and height. I had never even thought of such measure up to that point, but today it is a compulsion. I suppose that next time I actually compete it will be more like 25,
although in practice I aim at 21. I am, after all nearly 87 so I don't really care that much about it until I am in the water....then the compulsion takes over.
see what you have done to me Terry...you have turned me into an SPLC.
Any way it is always a delight to read your ever-inspiring reflections.
