Shane, I attended the weekend clinic in Towson, MD in July with you and Betsy and have since been practicing drills to great satisfaction.
Two things that have worked well for me since the clinic have been purchasing the dvd (Perpetual Motion Freestyle in 10 Lessons) and synthesizing a drill cheat sheet by wathcing each drill and noting the focus pts and general movements for each.
I've been doing the entire drill sequence finishing with whole stroke then moving to 10x 50 w/ 25 drill and 25 whole stroke (about 2x per week). I've also decided to stop flip turning until I feel I have the stroke down (not yet) and plan to add in flip turns gradually.
A really interesting thing I've found that works for me is that I watch the Shinji video just before or the night before a swim(great club mix soundtrack) and imprint that in my mind and imagine myself moving in the same way while I'm swimming. I find that my body sort of figures out how to move to look that way and definately feel my stroke getting more fluid/relaxed....much like Shinji's.
Also have been drilling the 'better butterfly' dvd on alternte days...fantastic improvement.
Hope all is well and thanks again for the re-start in my swimming.....hi to Betsy
