I did a T.I. workshop a couple of months ago and it was nice. I've been practising and practising drills untill I have mastered them. Now I am more concerned on swimming full stroke.
But I feel Im stopped and Im not advancing. I think Im doing ok my swimming (stroke, body position, etc...) But Im not able to make less that 18 SPL. Any piece of advice ?
Thanks and happy laps

Always enjoy Suzanne's insight! TI is fortunate to have as a coach.
My Goal is to swim further and maintain an efficient stroke consistency. Currently my SPL is 14-16. Because my goal is to swim long distances my objective to discipline and improve my focus and mindfulness during my practice session. My current practice consists of:

100*10 w/10 second rest. I count each stroke Im not concerned about lowering my SPL but focused on sustaining my 14-16 SPL. If my SPL starts to go-up I work on being mindful of my technique ..perhaps my head isn't pointed down, or my body streamline changed, ect..My focus here is to be aware of my body senses at all times.
My remianing practice might be 250 meters of focal point drills and 250 meters of shorter distances to further sharpen my focus. I try to play around with different swim sets at different rates..always doing it without effort or struggle..and most of all having fun!

It is really good that coaches try as much as they can to get swimmers to go faster longer. It is not an easy thing to do and the more that people can give different insight the better. When going deeper into various techniques and drills there is a lot to learn "And once you can drop a stroke or two after a warmup focused on body position, why not see if you can sustain that form" to get the most out of the workout.

There is a lot to learn when it comes to competitive swimming after you walk a mile as it is so good that coaches and other people take time to help the athletes.
