Terry, Brad,
Thank You both for creating this posting!! I am almost 55 myself and trying to lose the 40 pounds I've gained over the last three years. I slipped and fell while running in the rain (3yrs ago) and ended upin a wheelchair with metal plates on both sides of my right ankle replacing the bones I shattered.
Prior to this happening I was very active, enjoyed water skiing, dancing, etc.
After being in the wheelchair for a month, then using a walker for the next two months and finally being able to put weight on the ankle again, depression and frustration sent me to the refrig for "comfort food".
I'm now walking 4-5 mornings a week (usually 3-3.5 miles) around the neighborhood with a friend, then she and I meet later in the morning for 45min of weight training at CURVES (a womens gym) also 4-5 days a week....YET ! ! ! I still don't seem to be losing the weight. I knocked of the first 5 pounds-by changing my eating habits-prior to starting the walking routine, yet seem to be dancing back and forth within a 3-lb area on the scale fore the past 2-3 months.
I know they say "I'm building muscle, and Muscle weighs more than fat", yet I'm still seeing 6inches around my middle I want to see go away.
Like Brad, I have considered adding swimming to my routine, since a friend of mine offered use of her pool. I've also asked my husband to dig our ABS Lounger out of the garage. I also have lower back aching and am hoping it will go away with the loss of the belly.

Again, thank you both for the posting!!
