A recent video I had a friend make of me at the pool reveals what was mentioned here: overexaggeration of the reach resulting in lateral spine bend and a fish-tailing stroke/body. But hard to fix after one's been REALLY working to get that spearing arm way out front! I think everyone trying to improve their stroke needs to regularly have a friend video themselves to avoid imprinting bad habits they may not be aware of.

nice! i feel i need to work on less, rather than more when im in the pool....i make a mess when i try to keep too many things in mind during one length. ...more dangerous when im self self coached, using only ti books and no one to watch from the deck.
ive been meaning to ask, do you suck in your belly when you swim?

Hey Coach Suzanne,
As a new swimmer I was immediately drawn to the VW analogy, something I haven't heard before. So sitting in my chair I went through the motion and thought,"wow I gotta give this a try at the pool in the morning".
As I read on something else hit me,"so this is how the mind of an advanced TI swimmer works".The level of body awareness and analysis is worthy of aspiration.Someday.........
Thanks
