Surprised ! All along I was under the impression that Terry Laughlin invented fistglove and its usage for improving Swim Skills.Ahyway Thanks for making it known.

Thanks for this posting, Terry. I invented the fistglove in 1980 and tried variations on this theme of “cloaking” my swimmers’ hands for several years. I experimented with nylon, latex, silicone, neoprene, just about any material which was waterproof. I settled on latex and left the thumb free both to channel water around the hand as well as allow swimmers to be able to adjust their goggles, suit, etc. I’ve now used fistgloves with my swimmers regularly for the better part of 30 years. They wear them a lot in sculling sets, in short fast sets (where swimmers tend to drop their elbows), for most of our one arm drills and right before our maximum distance per stroke sets. They’re a valuable component of our training program and I believe other swimmers and coaches will quickly find them uniquely useful as well.
