[…] After my first testosterone-suppressing hormone injection Feb 11, I improved dramatically, to the point where I was able to coach at our Tri-Swim camp in Clermont the last week of Feb. Being there was itself strong medicine. The first two weeks of March I felt truly vibrant health—to the point where I could almost forget about cancer. During this period I trained exceptionally well and swam the thrilling 1650 race recounted in 1390 Seconds of Unwavering Focus. […]

Wow Coach Terry amazing. I did want to offer some encouragement. My husband was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer 2 yrs ago and underwent surgery using the amazing robotic da Vinci procedure and even though it was a challenging time for him mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually he did make it through to the other side. He is always available for you to talk to if you want to know about his experience. In fact he went in today for follow-up blood work and Monday we find out if he is still cancer free. It has been something that with God, friends and lots of support we have found our way through. I will keep you in my prayers and please let me know if you would like to chat with him.

Thank you Terry for the inspiration you have been giving me for years!

I am sorry to hear about your condition. In that regard, I would like
to bring your attention to a particular podcast episode by Tim Ferriss who
once gave a TED talk on his experience with the Total Immersion
technique.

In this episode, he interviewed Dr. Dominic D`Agostino, an
Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and
Physiology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of
Medicine, and a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Human
and Machine Cognition (IHMC).

In this interview, they touched the topic of fighting cancer (in
addition to traditional methods) with a low carb diet, fasting and food
supplements that induce a metabolic processes similar to those
that happen during fasting.
This is a link to the episode on the podcast:
http://fourhourworkweek.com/2015/11/03/dominic-dagostino/

The episode is worth of listening from the beginning, but I would
especially recommend following this bookmark (although I cannot vouch
for the recommendations):
"If Dom D`Agostino learned that he had advanced cancer, what tools would he use to fight it? [1:46:18]"

With best wishes,

Terry, I just turned 68 and my TI progress has been slow but steady. I was in the pool 2 days ago and not feeling particularly well and got distracted easily, but I finished my planned set. I took 2 days off -- my first unplanned days off for several months, and I'm feeling better. But your focus in the face of fatigue and distraction has always been inspiring. Not to mention your speed, but I know that will gradually come for me too if I keep on going. Thanks for being such a great mentor, and for living the embodiment of Flow.
