Freestyle Level 2 Workshop - 2-Beat Kick and Effective Propulsion
March 31, 2012
Club Sport Fremont (Fremont, CA)
TUITION: $299
DESCRIPTION: Freestyle Level 2 Workshop - 2-Beat Kick and Effective Propulsion
This workshop will put you on the path from efficient to expert in freestyle by honing Balance and Streamline skills and introducing advanced breathing and tempo control skills. Shinji Takeuchi, Total Immersion Master Coach/CEO (and YouTube sensation), will direct the workshop, sharing secrets of his renowned graceful freestyle, which has resulted in his becoming a Youtube sensation.
Balance.
Establish high, wide elbows. Tune up spinal stabilizer muscles. Together these increase comfort and control while breathing, hold a sleek body line during recovery, and strengthen the connection between weight shift and propulsion.
Streamline.
Keep a longer, lower-drag bodyline as you breathe and swim faster. Control leg-splay and knee-flex to reduce drag, and increase kick-effectiveness.
2-Beat kick.
The 2-Beat Kick is an essential skill of Perpetual Motion Freestyle. It minimizes drag and turbulence and takes virtually no energy, but adds whole-body power to your stroke. The 2-Beat adds to propulsion by driving your body into its most streamlined position.
Effective Propulsion.
Convert Force (horsepower) into Locomotion by (1) Position your extended arm to trap the maximum volume of water; (2) Move your body forward -- rather than move your hand back; and (3) Do both with no arm fatigue.
This workshop is recommended for those who have taken a TI Workshop, or its equivalent in private lessons or through self-coaching. To maximize its benefits you should have a strong foundation in the Balance, SpearSwitch and SwingSwitch sequences and/or the ability to swim with comfort and efficiency (though not 'fast') for 100yards or meters.
