TI Open Water Experience:
Wapato Lake, Manson, WA - June 25-28, 2020

LOCATION: Wapato Lake near Manson, Eastern Washington 98831.  CLICK HERE for map. Lake Wapato is located in Manson, Washington in the north central point of the state on the north shore of Lake Chelan. Sun shines down on the lake 300 days of the year but bring layers to shed and to keep warm. The average temperature in late June is 80 F but dips down to 55 F at night. Sometimes there are big winds. In that case we will swim in more suitable lakes in the area where the water remains calm. IMPORTANT - The access to the lake is down, and then up steep stairs. Please email if you have concerns about access.

TUITION: $750.00/person. $650.00 - Early bird discount before April 1 2020. *Accommodations are NOT included in the tuition price.

Workshop Director Teresa Seibel is a Total Immersion Master Coach who teaches in Kamloops, Burnaby, Penticton and Victoria, Canada. She has a warm and down to earth teaching style and is known for encouraging each student in their personal goals.

Workshop Coach Jill Hummelstein is a Level Three Total Immersion Coach who teaches on Whidbey Island, Washington and in Italy. She likes to turn her students on to the pleasure of discovering their inner athlete through focal points that amplify strength and grace.

DESCRIPTIONThis camp is designed for beginner and intermediate swimmers seeking Total Immersion instruction in the open water. Our philosophy is Kaizen swimming; creating continuous improvement by setting your intention to improve one swim skill at each session.

This is a technique-focused camp, teaching you to swim in open water with greater ease and flow, which allows you to swim long distances utilizing thousands of effortless uninterrupted strokes. Our camp is perfect for triathletes seeking to exit the water fresh and ready for the bike. And if your goal is increasing your pleasure and awareness while discovering what you want out of swimming this camp will also be perfect for you.

The Total Immersion Effortless Endurance
     • Level 1 workshop and Smart Speed Workshop
     • Level 2 is integrated with an open water workshop to give you an intense 3 1/2 day program.

PREREQUISITES: It is highly recommended that attendees be able to swim 400 yards/meters comfortably to obtain the greatest benefit from this open water experience and have some familiarity with the Total Immersion drill sequence using balance, streamline, and propulsion.

Friday, June 26:

Total Immersion drills and skills
Basics of good balance and streamlining in open water
Video on swim skills
11:00 am - 01:00 pm – Lake Wapato Cottage - Review of video
01:00 pm - 02:30 pm – Lunch at your leisure (food not included)
02:30 pm - 05:00 pm – Lake Wapato cottage
Review and practice, breathing in the open water
Optional group swim (dependent on abilities of group)

Saturday, June 27:
09:00 am - 11:00 am – Lake Wapato Cottage
We’ll split into groups and review and practice
Sighting for open water navigation
Synchronized swimming practice and mass swim starts
11:00 am - 01:00 pm – Lake Wapato Cottage for video review and
Swim Speed Math – introduction of tempo trainer
01:00 pm - 0:30 pm – Lunch at your leisure
02:30 pm - 05:00 pm – Lake Wapato Cottage
Review and practice of open water sighting, two beat kick
Introduction of Tempo Trainer
Final Videotaping

Sunday, June 28:
09:00 am - 11:00 am – Lake Wapato Cottage
Review, practice, and prepare for last video
Group open water swim, distance dependent on group ability
11:00 am - 01:00 pm – Final video review and wrap up

SUGGESTED PACKING LIST: In addition to a normal assortment of personal clothing items, the following items should be brought along: 
     • 2 water bottles
     • Plenty of sunscreen SPF 30+
     • SPF lip protection
     • Bug spray
     • Sandals
     • Sunglasses
     • Towel(s) 
     • Synthetic fleece to wear post-swim
     • Running shoes and other workout gear as desired
     • At least 2 pair of goggles or swim masks (tinted and mirrored lenses preferred)
     • Any medications you may need, prescription or over the counter
     • BodyGlide, Desitin or other anti-chafe cream
     • Thermal shirt and/or wetsuit
     • Safety Swim Buoy - mandatory and included
