Default land exercises for swimmers

Hi - Thanks to the TI self-learning books and DVDs I have been able to improve from a 15 m swimmer to a 1.5 km one. I was amazed I could swim such long distance with complete relaxation and without getting out of breath.

I've been wondering if there are any exercises one can do on land that can improve swimming.

Hi guys, I use stretch cord exercise to replicate catch movement. Also, I lie on floor and replicate zipperskate movement....concentrating on getting elbow as far forward as possible. You can also sit down, and lean against one of those inflatable exercise balls, and let it roll away slightly so it stretches your lats.

All core exercises will aid your hip drive. My favourite (if you can call it that!) is two dumbells held overhead...go into a squat, then as you drive up, twist to one side. try it...it hurts!

Lastly...and possibly most importantly is visualisation. Picture yourself swimming in the style you aspire to...and take it to the pool/lake etc!

Hope this helps somebody.
