Default This Forum is full of spam!

I notice that this forum has become almost unreadable due to the large amount of spam.

PLEASE install the anti-spam plugin to vBulletin. You even had a guy on here offering to do it for free for you!

This is a SOLVABLE PROBLEM!

Thanks for starting this thread
I started typing a thread last night but ended up not posting it about all this spam
It is really making this forum very unenjoyable.
I don't post a lot as I'm not much help to anyone but I do browse read and learn but it's now so annoying filtering through
I am also an active member in other forums not swimming related and they do not seem to have any of the spam that's filling up the threads here
Please fix it or you will lose the interest with members
Nick

I hear you and apologize for our lack of defenses. Yes, we've been targeted by spambots lately. We understand our version of Vbulletin isn't up to date, making us vulnerable. I've been personally searching for and deleting spam posts as nearly the first thing I do each day. It used to be a few a day, but in the last two weeks or so, the volume has gone up dramatically. Today, by 0515 EDST, I deleted over 200.

I seem to have missed the offer someone made to install the plugin. If someone can point me to that, I'll accept gratefully.

We are currently updating the whole site with the vBulletin update planned as part. However it's become apparent we can't wait longer to find a fix. We'll get on it now.

Terry,

I thought it was bx that had made that offer .... about 2 weeks ago.

It'll be great when this gets sorted out.

CORRECTION:

Actually just found the "offer" ... look in freestyle in the thread started by swimust titled "fao admin" and go to post #7 by gdmv77, the person with the offer. His post follows one earlier in the thread by bx.

Mike

Would it not be possible to put new members on "moderation status", so that their posts will only appear after approval?

Hi, its "gdmv77".

Heck, I'd do it for free, as it really is quite easy and takes no time at all to set up.
