When your wrist enter the water, you will change the angle to horizontal. This is when another hand starts to anchor. The leading hand moves forward horizontally with body rotation, so the angle of the hand slants (from 3:00 to 3:30/3:45) as the body glides.
Thanks again Shinji. These pictures make it really clear. I look forward to working on this.

Shinji,
I have watched your "Underwater Finish for Faster Freestyle". I do not know the meaning of the word "snap" in the sentence below (I am a Chinese with poor English), Would you say or explain the sentence in another way ? Thanks!

By snapping your palm underwater, you can quickly move your elbow forward.
snap phase

Thanks, shuumai-san. It is a 25m pool.
I am curious how you could become a "Member", not a "Junior Member".

What a wonderful stroke.
Just one question really, you seem to be able to almost play catch-up with your arms is this because you are able to push your weight further forward than 'normal people'.Is this just natural or is it something you learnt ? Also with such a weight distribution how come you don't seem to have trouble breathing.
Thanks

I've noticed that if I kick (2BK) at the moment my lead arm spears forward and my other arm is moving along the side of my body, I feel a weight shift and acceleration. Recently my crawl felt terrible. I remembered to focus on the weight shift and the stroke became better.

The following video shows the movement.
Hand Snap Motion
A hand snap is composed of two movements; swift arc movement centered by the wrist and slower movement centered by the elbow. You have to snap very fast to get counter-force from the water. Try to push the water with your palm so that your elbow comes up by the reaction.
