I hope I am not fixated on SPL. But I use it as an indicator if I am improving. SPL should become better over time, if balance and streamlining improves. I train just as you suggested with your list. I concentrate on one issue at a time. I already noted a few problem areas: - does your lead arm go down when you are breathing? Sometimes a bit, still a concentration issue. - do you over-rotate in breathing strokes? Sometimes, still a concentration issue. Breathing generally is a problem area. I am not sure what exactly the problem is, but sometimes I either don't breathe out enough under water or I don't breathe in enough. - are the legs quiet between kicks? I actually never ever paid attention to my legs. There's one interesting thing you mentioned: "do you pause before starting the recovery?" When I concentrate on low SPL, I have a little pause during my recovery. My arm is already in the air, but I'm still gliding. So I am moving it a little slower than normal. Another thing is my head. When I really leave it hanging down I think it is too far down. When I am stretching my arm and my cheek should feel my arm (superman), I have to raise my head a bit. When I really let it hanging down it seems to me that streamlining is not optimal. I try to have my head horizontal, like Terry in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC8ZZZhabp4 |
