Default Video analysis - what a shocker!

Hello dear forum members,

After practising TI for about 14 months, I had the opportunity to get some video taken on holiday, on my ancient camera, so please excuse the low resolution and bitrate.

In short - it's a shock to see this!

I see these errors:

1. Head position too high.
2. Two goggles dry on breathing strokes.
3. Under-rotation on non-breathing side.
4. Do my hips even rotate at all? They look rather flat.
5. Recovery nowhere near being elbow led.
6. Hand entry too far forward.
7. Massive leg splay after every breath. [EDIT: new one added to list]

On the plus side, I think my balance looks reasonable - my hips seem fairly high up, I seem to have wide parallel tracks, and hand entry looks quiet.... but I stand to be corrected :)

I look forward to any comments, though it's quite clear I have plenty of work on my plate for the coming year.

Ant

I tend to agree with all the error comments but your stroke does not really look all that bad! A little lower head position ,keep one goggle wet when you breathe and a drop more rotation to your no breathing side should do it !

I agree with your findings, but that said, your stroke is probably more efficient and better-looking than maybe 90% of the lap swimmers I see around me.

I had to smile when I saw this because I was just thinking that I needed to get video taken as well. So let's get some context. Can you remember what you may have been like 14 months ago? Now I have to get video taken because I think I may have a similar reaction. Kudos for posting them.

I had a similar reaction to a recent video of myself, I think I even saw both of my ears out of the water, wow!

Of note, breathing on one side only. Hard to see what your kick looks like.

How about a TI promo. You get a free swim cap by posting a series of video where there is a clear improvement showing a TI method of swimming?

I think this has been posted before, but I can't find it. Can someone tell me how to post a video on you tube? I sorely need someone's help and despite misgivings, I need to post a video.

Default Shocker Join The Club

Sherry,

I know how to weave my way through the posting of video, only through the great help of others on this site. I will leave that explanation to them as I would definitely something out or fumble my words.

To your point of being shocked. I have yet to find anyone who has video taken that feels they look like they feel in water. Frankly I was astounded at my first videos. I am now to the point when video is taken, my feel for the water is such, I kind of know where the ugly spots are going to be.

My hat is off to you and hope to see the video shortly.

Great idea, I volunteer for the "before" video!
