Can't find the thread but in one you said that the commonest fault at your classes was that swimmers started their hip drive too late. That rang a bell with me so next visit to the pool I experimented and it was immediately obvious that I had been placing my recovering hand neatly in the water then belatedly rotating and only using half the available energy. I can't pretend to have it all sussed yet but immediately I used my hip drive for the whole weight shift I could feel the extra power and all the other benefits such as more time for breathing and that my legs automatically cock to resist the next hip drive. I was despairing at lack of progress and suddenly I'm excited again and can't wait to get back to the pool. I can now hope to see myself achieving my ambition of a comfortable cruising speed of one m/s in open water by this Summer.
