![]() Participated in my first Long Course Meters meet in the 75-79 age bracket on Saturday. In my first race I broke the Canadian record for the 50 Fly by 2 seconds. Was so excited I forgot to do a cool down swim and take my glucose drink. Swam the 100 Fly 30 minutes later and missed the National mark by 1.4 seconds. The last 10 meters my arms were mush. The time was good enough for the provinacial record. I broke the provincial record for the 200m Free but was a ways off the National (9sec) and 4secs. off the 100 Free National mark. Have another chance at these in three months. Will do alot of TT work.
Tho the 50Fly National record is way off the World Record it was a thrill to accomplish. Am suspicous that the guys at the World level may be of a different species. :0)

As far as aging up, though I 'benefitted' last ow season (my first to compete) I can no longer 'ride behind' the 45-49 age group, I must swim 'in it' with some of the best local tri/ow swimmers. Looking forward to it. Alan |
