If you are practicing CB with focus on learning the rotation you will use in Skating, Switches and Swimming, then you will rotate far less than 180.

However, if and when you breathe, then you'll probably rotate more than 180. That's incidental to the core purpose of the drill. It can be of value in tuning spinal stabilizers to maintain alignment in all freestyle breathing drills or skills.
