Suit care?

How does one care for a suit after swimming? Westy (I hope he does not mind the name drop) told me that there are chlorine washes... Do you recommend them, and which one if you do recommend them? I always just washed my suits according to the directions on the tag, but I am noticing excessive damage now, and will have to get a brand new suit if my suits deteriorate this fast.

I get my suits from H2O wear (www.h2owear.com). They are chlorine resistant. They may be a bit more expensive but I don't wash mine out everyday. I just hang them on the doorknob ready for the next day. Mine last about 1 1/2 to 2 years.

My family uses Suit Solutions, a chlorine neutralizer which you can buy online. You can put 3 cap fulls in a bucket of water and use it for a week before dumping it and starting over. After each swim, just rise the suit through the water in the bucket, then hang it up to dry.

Next suit you buy, I recommend Speedo Endurance fabric.

Polyester suits outlast lycra by a huge margin - they last about 4 times as long. They aren't as stretchy as lycra suits, so will feel a bit snug for the first few weeks.
Chloroban is the brand name for the best known poly fabric, but there may be others out there as well. Just make sure it's all polyester with no lycra content at all and a quick rinse afterwards with a wash in a washing machine (cold water) a few times a week should do it. If the lining is also polyester, that's even better.
Also make sure you dry it quickly and completely between uses. Leaving it damp for long periods of time will wear it out faster.
