Default Alcatraz swim

Hello all

I recently swam alcatraz and although I did not finish first, I did finish the swim.
I'm 50 year's old and I would not call myself much of a swimmer prior to teaching my self TI freestyle(dvd & book ).
yet after only 4 month's of pool swimming , focusing on technique and minimal lap's, and 3 week's of distance swimming (approx. 1.5 miles) in a local river , I felt confident enough to attempt the swim.
During the swim I never felt tired or out of breath and my shoulder's /elbow's
did not give me any problem's, prior to TI one or both of my joint's would ache.
I plan on attending a work shop early next year in order to learn the complete
total immersion technique.

Ingrained, congratulations on your accomplishment! What Alcatraz swim did you do? By that I mean, The Alcatraz Challenge, Alcatraz Invitational another? Just curious. I've swum from The Rock before and live in San Francisco. Again, hats off to you it can be a challenging swim and you are in a great community of folks that have escaped from Alcatraz :)

Keep Swimming!

This comment is directed to Naj. I plan on doing the alcatraz swim with my daughter next year. What time of year is the best and which swim do you recommend?
