Default backstroke and 2bk

When I do not think about, all is fine. Just as I try to analyze what I do,
I cannot say if it's correct or not.
Could someone depict me backstroke 2bk in few sentences? I am ro-
tated to i.e. left side, recovering right arm and rotating to the right side.
When that leg kick goes and is it from down to up? I moved from 6bk
and found it better for me.
Best regards all.

Hi fooboo

I am no expert and I don't use a 2-beat kick for backstroke, but I think it's just like front crawl only upside down. Your left foot should kick up as your right hand enters.

Possibly trying to swim with a dolphin kick will assist you in getting the feeling. I found it useful when learning the two-beat for front crawl.

I have tried swimming double arm backstroke with a dolphin kick, which I don't find easy, but it is only slightly slower than my efforts with a light flutter. I have a very non-propulsive flutter kick, which I am trying to improve.

During vacation, swimming in the lake, I found I go much better with 6bk in
a backstroke. I'm not stupid to fail to do the same as in freestyle, but this
suits me so far. No more strain to not miss the kick.
Those kicks are not strong, but enough to keep me in line. If I try to swim
more forcefully, 2bk might become better choice. Gonna try it tomorrow.

When I'm swimming backstroke I just care that my legs are straight and near the surface and that the kick just flows within the rhythm of the stroke .There is no way I'm going to try and do a 6 beat kick because it's too much to think about and would take concentration away from my form .It's probably more like a 2 beat though .
