Default Training program question

Hi all,
I've been swimming 3 times a week regularly for several months now.
I've been training alone, after a couple of session with a swim coach to help me with my stroke.
The way I've been structuring my training has been gradually increasing the number of laps as follows:

From:
1. 10 laps (each lap 50m) alternating between breaststroke and freestyle --> now at 8 consecutive freestyle laps
2. 4 laps with fins --> now at 10 laps with fins
3. 2 laps balance drills with fins (legs only one arm forward)
4. 4 laps with a pull bouy - now at 4 laps with paddels and 4 without
5. 2 laps sculling - front and back

I seem to have hit a wall in advancing. My goal is too swim 20 consecutive laps (1 KM) freestyle with no fins/ pull buoy.

I'd appreciate any tips on how to adjust the training.

A couple of points I've noticed:
1. I am faster with a poll bouy than without one. I use a 2 beat kick and I don't get much propulsion from the kick
2. While I can swim breaststroke without too much fatigue - freestyle is more exerting

Thanks in advance

Roi

Hi roiroi,

See thread 500y race training from landbarge/aloysius: http://www.totalimmersion.net/forum/...28&postcount=2

Learning balance is your priority. Leave the pull buoy, paddles, and fins at home (better, donate the buoy and paddles to Goodwill since they don't recycle well). Buoy, paddles, fins are masking balance issues you need to address. Pick up Effortless Endurance Self-Coaching series, it's worth its weight in gold. You will be on your way to swimming with ease, grace and speed without dependency on buoy, paddles and fins.

Enjoy the journey!

Is there much difference between the ' Effortless Endurance' videos and the 'Ultra Efficient Freestyle' videos?

You're welcome roiroi, have fun with the process.

wmeg: The Ultra Efficient Freestyle moved to 1.0 Effortless Endurance when 2.0 Freestyle Mastery was released. There may be a few organizational updates, but it is essentially the same.

Roi
I'm too uncoordinated to do that. Tried and tried , gave up.
