Default Hitting the wall

As mentioned in the continuance thread I can swim 25m in 20s relatively easily and consistantly but when I try to swim faster I can only get to 19s with a great deal of effort. i.e. it becomes exponentially more difficult between 20s and 19s. I have tried everything I can think of to go faster but nothing has worked so far.
Any suggestions gratefully received, especially if they work.

Metrics and a video would help as well.

If you don't already have one then use a tempo trainer, this way you can measure each 100th of a second without a clock (more accurate if you swim in double or triple time i.e. 2 or 3 beats of tempo trainer per stroke)

20 stroke @0.96 =19.2 seconds

20 strokes @0.95 =19 seconds,

without a tempo trainer these two swims will seem the same.

With a tempo trainer you know you have swum faster, then you can do the same @0.94 and so on.

Don't forget to count an even number of strokes on the push off and keep the push off consistent for each effort.

put another way, to go from 20s to 19s, you first need to do 19.9 or 19.8

the tempo trainer helps you measure that accurately
