TI swimmers should love this

Suns stroke looks impressive I must say. Like how he goes under and only comes up to breathe. when he starts to accelerate he starts loping. Seems the logical next phase when trying to go faster from the even stroke.
Not a great time though. I think he is loosing his youthfull motivation.

The style has changed quite a lot from 25 years ago. At that time the rotary armtiming was more common.

What has the longer strokestyle delivered in terms of 1500m speed?

1994 Kieren Perkins 14 min 42
2012 Sun Yang 14 min 31 hasnt been bettered since.
progress over nearly 25 years max 1.3%. Coaches, go find another job please haha.

800m progress:
1994 Kieren Perkins 7 min 46
2009 Zhang Lin 7 min 32, hasnt been improved since
progress over nearly 25 years max 3%.

400m progress:
1994 Kieren Perkins 3 min 44
2002 Ian Thorpe 3 min 40, hasnt been improved since
progress over nearly 25 years max 1.8%.

Conclusion, neglegtable efficiency difference between different swim styles.
Katy Ledecky is the only one who really makes a difference.
Conclusion: loping stroke has more potential than symmetric rotary stroke.
