I went out my first 500 in 6:38, then was +/- 2 seconds of 7 minutes every 500 after that. I was spying the pace clock at each 50; that helped me keep the splits pretty steady at +/- :42.
Yes, that pace is more or less my usual warmup/recovery/cool down pace.
