perfection

I recently saw a bloke doing effortless no splash 11 strokes per 25m in my pool. The swim squad coach and the pool manager were watching with their mouths open. The manager said to me "I don't know...

fog

ZT I've discovered that a squirt and rinse of the wash foam in the changing shed keeps my goggles clear for a whole swim. I've used the same goggles for two seasons, no problem.

You are right Stuart, I have been following this post too. About 6 years ago a neighbour and very good swimmer persuaded me that I should reach further. Within a month I had badly damaged...

And now for something totally different

Easter Monday was a beautiful day here. There has been little rain and the river is clear. There was a big tide so I decided to swim at the sailing club. Sandy bottom, plus one metre of water, what...

Thank you Stuart.
Fionas arms don't cross of course, but the kick seemed exaggerated.

To Stuart McDougal, Kick timing 101?

Remember the early TI videos. there's one of Terry's daughter swimming in the sea and she is definitely cross crawling, big 2bk. Terry has steadily retreated to a modest toe flick since.
All summer...

Forward impulse

Hi Talvi from the Southern Hemisphere.
I'm in no position to give advice and others do it much better. I desperately need a weekend of coaching. Most of my summer swimming is in a river estuary in...

tri/b

The other swim school are hot on tri breathing. they recommend just doing it for a fortnight, at least six swims, and you'll break through. It worked for me. I had breathed right side for 60 years....

Slow learner

Tomoy, I have been on this TI trip for about 7 years. I have enjoyed easy swimming from early on but I've been aware that my speed was not good. I have worked on all the exercises and am happy with...

Kick

This winter I took fins to the pool and swam with my legs held straight behind me. As I rotated I was amazed at the load on my opposing foot. Now back in the summer estuary I find myself thinking of...

Slow

I'm enjoying this discussion. I am 74, with the usual age related challenges. If I'm to continue to swim into my 80's ease is my main mission. This winter I've been pushing gently off the end of the...

wetsuit

I've got a 2 mm cheapee and I love it. Not too much buoyancy. good stretch, easy to get in and out of, moderate warmth, neutral balance, seems robust. Feel like I'm up front with the Brownlee bros....

Charles your pull buoy freestyle exercise where you advised to rush the hip out of the way of the stroking arm is the latest timely advice I've got from this forum. I like practising it wearing pool...

rotation

Danny, I agree that physics says we must anchor against something. It seems to me that in this exercise we are turning against the inertia of our thighs and legs. We have to isolate the core rotation...

2bk,

Ingrid

I find it easiest to set off holding my feet together and still. I initiate rotation from my hips. As Terry has said, it is almost impossible to resist a diagonal toe flick. Within a short...

Coach McDougal, are you saying that everyone can float horizontally? I would like a poll of the forum to see how many of us can achieve this in all circumstances.
I've been a follower of TI for about...

No kick too

Charles, with your permission, and ss, I took my fins to the pool and tried your rotation and unco drills, good fun.

Then I tried freestyle without kicking, holding my feet still and fins together....
